Our Fort Washington clients were dreaming of a primary suite with a walk-in closet and private bath in their split-level home. The upper level had two small bedrooms with minimal storage and a shared hall bath. They were utilizing rolling clothing racks to supplement their limited closet space but needed a lasting solution. As part of Harth’s Design Build Remodel Process, our team listened intently and then translated their needs and wants into several conceptual plans that accomplished their goals through various design solutions. Each included a bedroom, bath with tiled shower, his-and-her vanities, make-up vanity, and walk-in closet that maximized hanging rods and shelving space. Once our client made their conceptual plan selection, our team set to further work, confirming measurements of their existing home, discussing preferred aesthetics, proposing plumbing fixtures and tile selections, and fine tuning every detail.
The result is a gorgeous primary suite! Situated between the new private primary bath and primary bedroom is a generous walk-in closet with pocket doors on each side for optional privacy or maximum daylighting across the three spaces. The primary bath features an oversized frameless glass shower with showerhead, rain head, and hand shower as well as a built-in tiled bench with quartz top. Opposite the shower is an eye-catching wall of maple stained StarMark cabinetry that includes double sinks and a generous built-in make-up counter. Champagne Bronze plumbing fixtures, cabinetry hardware, and light fixtures beautifully accent the chocolate glaze on the cabinetry, large format black floor tile with veining, and mottled gray and cream Spanish style star and cross wall tile. A fleur-de-lis inspired wallpaper at the headwall of the bedroom and at the back of the toilet alcove provides additional focal interest and unifies the warm white counters, earth tones, and black accents across the spaces. All existing windows were replaced and a new transom window was added above the bed to increase natural light while maintaining privacy. New wide plank engineered hardwood was installed in the bedroom, walk-in closet, and down the hall to the stairs for ease of cleaning and seamless appearance.
The contemporary, fresh new primary suite perfectly marries exceptional functionality with aesthetic beauty. Goodbye to rolling clothing racks and hello to an organized closet system! This lasting design will serve our clients for many years to come and fits in beautifully with the rest of their well-appointed home. Harth loved bringing reality to their dreams and exceeding their expectations!
