Our Plymouth Meeting clients, a young family of five, were seeking a complete transformation of their unfinished basement that the entire family could enjoy. We accomplished this by incorporating a large family TV area, conveniently located powder room, moody bar with bookshelves, kids art area, gym, and music hangout space with guitars, keyboard and speakers. The kids art area and gym are flexible spaces that can accommodate various activities including table tennis, arts and crafts, and yoga complete with a wall of mirrors at one end. Large arched openings encourage circulation throughout the space while creating a more intimate, defined area for conversations and TV watching in the bar area, affectionately tagged the “Juice Room,” with cozy chair seating and conveniently located beverage refrigerator and snack storage. Maple wood tone luxury vinyl flooring (LVF) throughout brightens up the entire space while complementing the rich dark navy blue color drenching on the walls, cabinetry, and millwork. Accent lighting and wallpaper, along with contemporary artwork, complete the striking color scheme. Storage for the family is tucked away in clever spaces and varying ceiling heights creatively conceal existing ductwork. This successfully completed basement remodel boasts a variety of fun uses for the family for decades to come with the flexibility to grow and adjust as the family does the same!
