Need some inspiration? We recently remodeled this Glenside home for a family seeking a more functional home perfect for entertaining. They had an extremely small kitchen, but the laundry room was larger than the kitchen, dining, and nook combined. While the rest of their house was beautiful and spacious, these areas were not functional, nor did they match the existing aesthetic. We crafted a new kitchen and reimagined many other spaces — all seamlessly blending into the original architectural elements of the older stone home. We also reused as much of the existing exterior stone, interior doors, and original hardware as possible.

Elegant Entertaining
The ideal host kitchen is organized, functional, and beautiful. Good flow is essential to accommodate guests. Since the kitchen is where everyone inevitably ends up, you’ll want a space where you can prepare food and visit at the same time. In this kitchen, a well-designed center island offers casual seating, storage space, and a food prep area. Guests can chat and enjoy hors d’oeuvres without interrupting the master chef. Hanging above the island is a pair of geometric chandelier pendant lights, providing both extra light above the workspace and a gorgeous focal point.

Here, a state-of-the-art gas range is beautifully accented by a concealed hood and chevron backsplash, made up of the soft color palette found throughout the kitchen. This chef’s kitchen also includes a walk-in pantry, side-by-side fridge/freezer, coffee bar, wine/wet bar, and baking station with a steam oven. Cabinets topped by glass panels flank each side, ensuring the homeowners can stay organized and clutter-free while displaying treasured keepsakes. The striking beams spanning the ceiling draw the eye up, making every part of the kitchen lovely and elegant.

Guests can wander comfortably from the kitchen to the new family room, updated with a charming fireplace and access to the backyard.
