Our Glenside clients came to us with an extremely small kitchen and a laundry room that was larger than the kitchen/dining/and nook combined. While the rest of their house was beautiful and spacious, these areas were not functional nor did they match the existing aesthetic. The original architectural elements of the older stone home were important as well as a view to their gorgeous property. They desired a large kitchen (for cooking, baking and entertaining), a family room off the kitchen with views to the rear yard, a guest room and full guest bath, gym, two car garage with a storage bay, and mudroom. Our goal was to incorporate all of these new elements so they seamlessly transitioned into the existing home.
We reused as much of the existing exterior stone as possible as well as interior doors and their original hardware. The kitchen is much larger and more function and includes a walk-in pantry, side-by-side fridge/freezer, coffee bar, wine/wet bar, and baking station with steam oven. The family room is designed off of the kitchen which is perfect for entertaining and also has access to the rear yard. We included a fireplace for the colder months so the room is comfortable to enjoy the backyard views all year long! The garage has enough room to fit two cars as well as an abundance of storage. The new laundry room includes a washing station for our clients who love to garden while the new mudroom has a new built-in bench for jackets, gardening tools, etc. The new second floor includes a loft (with views to the stunning new ceiling millwork), home gym, guest room and guest bath perfect for all family and friends to stay and enjoy these new spaces!
