The dark and cramped old kitchen in this Elkin’s Park stately home was the product of a poorly conceived 1980s remodel that hardly matched the rest of the house. The homeowners needed to transform it into a true hub of their daily life. We removed their rarely used massive carport to make way for a sunny and welcoming mudroom addition and opened up interior passageways to adjacent rooms. The new entrance leads to a kitchen that is now filled with light and has plenty of storage and room for everyone! It includes a dedicated coffee center, concealed charging station, and ventilation that actually works. The homeowners also love that the kitchen now reflects the classic styling of the rest of the house and is easy to maintain.
