Split-level homes are often found in our local Philadelphia suburbs. Our Elkins Park clients came to us seeking to open up the very compartmentalized main living floor of their existing split level. Their kitchen was closed off to both the living and dining rooms making it feel tight and isolating. We removed the walls dividing these spaces to create one spacious great room! Existing vaulted ceilings aided the new floor plan in feeling bright and open. Within the kitchen, we added a large island with seating – perfect for entertaining big families and lots of grandchildren! The new island also houses a microwave drawer and beverage refrigerator. The overall color scheme is neutral with pops of fun color throughout in their soft goods and décor. In the living room, we incorporated new built-in cabinetry for their entertainment center. This gives ample storage for all three rooms when needed and finishes off the space nicely. The new brass and leather hardware is a showstopper as well!
