Harth loves to help its clients make their home their favorite place. The pinnacle of this is a fully custom home so building these is a practice that we especially love! Our Kennett Square clients were seeking a family-oriented home with open flow and low maintenance materials. As we guided them through the design development process, we began by gathering as much information as possible regarding their preferred style, aesthetics, and functionality. In depth conversations and inspiration photos were starting points, soon transformed into personalized, timeless designs as Harth’s team, from design through production, brought their dreams to life.
From your first steps into the home, the light, airy interior welcomes you. The front door entry features an inset of marble tile with an eye-catching two-story stair with stacked, oak-trimmed windows, and contemporary black metal balusters capped with slender, minimalistic wood handrails. The gathering room just beyond features a ten-foot coffered ceiling with recessed lighting, large windows with transoms, built-in cabinetry with accent lighting, and a gas fireplace with quartz surround.
The adjacent gourmet kitchen includes a 6-burner Viking range with pot filler, an expansive island with seating, custom inset cabinetry, dishwasher drawer, and built-in coffee system conveniently located by their welcoming guest suite. Additional aesthetic features include full-height quartz backsplashes, oversized range hood, and 2 ½” thick counters throughout along with accent lighting at the island.
Aesthetic continuity was achieved between the kitchen and gathering room by repeating various features: the quartz at the fireplace surround and island, medium stained wood finish on cabinetry, and accent lighting. The combination of black-framed casement windows, warm wood tones, and pops of matte brass finish on hardware, lighting fixtures, and trims creates a fresh, contemporary interior with timeless appeal that is neither too white nor too colorful. From the gathering room, kitchen, and morning room, guests are beckoned to the inviting covered cabana with 42” gas fireplace, medium stained ceiling and columns, stone surround, and flagstone hearth, mantel, and floor. Complementing the first floor is a bright mudroom with an attractive and durable herringbone tile floor and convenient drop-zone with generously sized built-in bench and cubbies for kids’ gear. The study just off the gathering room magnifies the contemporary style of the home with black onyx walls and ceiling.
The primary bedroom has an expansive balcony, accent lighting in the tray ceiling, and two walk-in-closets. In the primary bath, striking solid navy blue Zellige wall tile throughout the Roman shower is complimented by the encaustic patterned wall tile at the separated sink vanities. One-way mirror glass in the Roman shower brings in natural light from the windows that surround the beautiful, fluted freestanding tub. Steam shower functionality provides spa-like feel without leaving home!
In addition to the primary suite, the second floor offers three large bedrooms with ample windows and walk-in closets, and baths with built-in tiled shower benches and wide niches. The generously sized 2nd floor laundry room includes two combination washer/dryers, ample counterspace, custom drying rack drawers, beverage refrigerator, and water filtration.
The new custom home will serve the multi-generation family for decades to come with features, functions and aesthetics that are uniquely theirs. We couldn’t be happier for them as they settle in!
