Our Laverock client is one of our own – Harth’s Sales Manager and his family’s home. What started as a desire to relocate an eyesore – a powder room near the kitchen island – turned into a full first floor remodel with breathtaking results! We opened up the original rear wall of the house between the mudroom and covered patio in order to enlarge the kitchen. New windows aligned with the new perimeter counters bring in extensive natural light and nature views. Rift and quarter sawn white oak cabinetry with wire brushed finish, honed Calcutta marble counters with full-height backsplash, and Hubbardton Forge light fixtures create a fresh, airy, relaxed atmosphere. Floor space was repurposed to include a new wet bar in the relocated dining room with built-in bench seating, rich black cabinetry, and grass cloth wallpaper. The existing dining room was transformed into a gorgeous whiskey lounge featuring a coffered ceiling, glass chandelier, and Sherwin Williams Cast Iron walls. An addition was added in the garage so the mudroom and powder room could be relocated and expanded resulting in a new landing zone and valuable storage space for the family. The new wrap-around deck connects indoor and outdoor entertaining with extensive space for cooking, dining and relaxing along with a single stair to the yard. Finally, the anthesis of the project, the powder room, is removed from adjacency to the kitchen and includes a contemporary custom cast concrete sink, wall mount faucet, and pendant fixtures flanking the mirror. This remodel, as with all Harth projects, includes carefully planned and designed spaces, incorporating the home’s existing features, as desired, with the introduction of new features that help to make one’s home their favorite space.
