Our Maple Glen client approached us seeking to extend the outdoor living space adjacent to his family’s pool. They frequently entertain and wanted a year-round, day or night space for family and friends to enjoy as well as a neighborhood hangout for the kids and their parents. The design criteria included a lounge space with TV, grilling and bar area, and shower with changing room for the pool. A single dad, our client requested the completed look have a masculine feel so darker finishes with blue accents were selected.
The location, layout, and aesthetic of the new outdoor space were designed to complement the existing pool with attractive sight lines from the existing home. We incorporated an Outdoor Elements louvered roof system with solid panel portions at each end, located above the wall-mounted TV and the bar seating, and an operable louvered section in the center. Operable louvers, adjustable color LED lighting, two Bromic heaters, and a 54” ceiling fan provide the flexibility needed for enjoyment during every season of the year. The rain showerhead and open air changing space extend the natural feel of the outdoor shower. Highly durable materials and finishes were selected to withstand the elements and include James Hardie Board and Batten siding, NatureKast Weatherproof Cabinetry, and Nero Indio leathered granite bar counters with waterfall sides, changing room bench, and shower pie shelves. Old concrete around the pool was removed and a new slab was poured to create a continuous appearance and the illusion that the existing pool and patio and the new cabana were planned and built together. The gorgeous new cabana with ample space for large, comfortable seating and firepit table, 42” wide built-in grill, and bar seating for four or more individuals are the perfect backdrop for countless gatherings into the future.
