Over the past few years we have been seeing a trend of clients removing large and underutilized tubs and tub decks and replacing them with spacious and comfortable showers. Removing the large bathtub can give you the freedom to re-imagine the bathroom and create the ideal shower. There are many ways to customize entering your shower such as installing a curb that separates the shower from the bathroom or designing a zero threshold or walk-in shower. Zero threshold showers are advantageous for people with limited mobility or needs for wheelchair accessibility.
There are different ways to enclose a shower as well. You could fully enclose it with glass (including a glass hinged door), sliding glass barn doors, just a small glass panel, or no enclosure at all. If you have the right amount of space (and you’re comfortable being out in the open) a non-enclosed shower could be the right move for you.
