Our Audubon clients came to Harth seeking a kitchen remodel as well as new flooring throughout the first floor of their home. They wanted a larger kitchen but didn’t want an addition or a reduction in the size of their adjacent dining room. They wanted clean lines but not a super modern feel. Harth’s team listened intently and accomplished their goals. The result is an exquisitely remodeled space with a fresh, contemporary aesthetic that beautifully complements the style and features of their existing home. To provide an expanded feel to the kitchen, Harth maintained the existing footprint but removed the wall separating the kitchen and the dining room; this allowed for increased flow, counters, and linear storage without reducing usable space in the dining room. Elimination of the wall as well as a faux beam in the dining room give the home a light, airy new feel. The introduction of wide-plank engineered hardwood throughout the first-floor foster continuity between the rooms.

A simple color palette was created using two-tone cabinetry with pistachio green base cabinets and dove white wall cabinets, soft white backsplash tiles with handmade, natural variation in color and thickness, and satin nickel plumbing fixtures, appliances, and cabinetry hardware. Eye-catching charcoal gray soapstone counters provide durable, long-lasting use while offering a velvety, soft texture and classic appearance. An added feature in the kitchen is the soapstone backsplash and display ledge at the landing zone cabinetry adjacent to both the laundry and dining room. To increase laundry room efficiency, new washer and dryer units were added and stacked and the existing kitchen cabinetry was repurposed and installed for additional storage and functionality. The successfully remodeled spaces will serve the family and be enjoyed by them for many years to come!
