No Detail Passed Over
This stunning historic stone house in Mt. Airy deserved a new kitchen just as beautiful as its exterior. We first handled the homeowner’s frustrations about the layout by removing a wall between the existing kitchen and the butler’s pantry. Next, we created extensive storage and prep space with two new islands, a revamped walk-in pantry, and open shelving. A hidden pull-out spice cabinet next to the range adds ease to the cooking experience, while a full beverage bar keeps this family fueled from morning coffee to nightcaps.
Against the backdrop of blue and white cabinetry and gray marble counters, a gorgeously patterned tile backsplash takes center stage. Modern stainless steel appliances are offset by brushed gold hardware—including drawer pulls in a unique organic leaf design. As a finishing touch, rich wood flooring adds a certain warmth that makes this kitchen truly feel like the heart of this very special home.

Small Space Specialists
As one of Philadelphia’s top kitchen and bath remodeling contractors, we understand the challenges that come with cramped floor plans. Luckily, our design experts know a thing or two about navigating tight spaces. Whether it’s a simple matter of removing walls or a larger plan for a custom addition, we’ll help you get the most out of every square foot in your Chestnut Hill or Mt. Airy home.
Our Philadelphia clients came to us to help find a way to make their home feel less cramped for their growing family of four. The too-tight kitchen sat adjacent to a closed-in porch that housed their laundry room and a toilet room with no sink. Nothing worked, nothing flowed, and there was never quite enough room. To create a larger footprint, we removed the wall between the kitchen and laundry and relocated the toilet to a new powder room. After leveling the old porch floor, we built a spacious, modern eat-in kitchen. An island with an attached dining table provides all the space necessary for food prep, family dinners, and even homework, while a wall of storage cabinets provides lots of pantry space—and a spot to hide away the washer and dryer.

And that toilet? The area under the stairs was the perfect spot for a small powder room to make a big impact. Brushed gold accents, a traditional pedestal sink and luxe wallpaper create a wow-worthy moment.

Historic Home, Meet Modern Amenities
Marrying the charm of a historic home to the modern elements that make life a little easier is truly an art. This recent first-floor transformation for our clients’ historic “chateauesque” Chestnut Hill home required special care to ensure 21st-century conveniences looked natural in the space. To create cohesion throughout the first floor, we selected a stunning white oak flooring, which we arranged in a herringbone pattern in the front entryway for a beautiful first impression.

From weeknight family dinners to gatherings with friends, the gorgeous new kitchen boasts an elegance that fits right in with the architecture of the home. White cabinetry, honed black marble countertops and backsplashes, paneled appliances, and a showstopping focal point in a black Lancanche range all add up to an unforgettable space.

In an adjacent room, we created a moody, fully-stocked bar, complete with a wine fridge, cigar humidor, ice maker, and ample open shelving to showcase our clients’ liquor collection. Gold hardware, backlit display cabinets and a lovely hammered brass bar sink add an inviting glow to the room that will make guests glad to stay for just one more drink.

For a final touch of functionality, we reimagined the home’s mudroom with custom cubbies and pantry cabinets—an easy drop spot to hang coats and bags—and unload the groceries.

Storage Solutions Tailored to Fit Your Family
Not enough storage space? No problem—Harth can find a solution. Older homes, like this beautiful stone structure in the heart of Mt. Airy, often don’t have the storage space that modern families need. In this kitchen and dining room remodel, we found a way to incorporate extra closed pantry storage, a beverage bar, a drop zone in the form of a modern built-in hutch, and a display area for heirloom china. With modern, industrial elements, striking wood tones, and beautifully patterned flooring, this space is both aesthetically pleasing and completely functional.
