Entertaining is very important to our Blue Bell clients! To support this passion, they were seeking an entire first floor remodel including updated aesthetics and a large kitchen island. During Harth’s Design Development phase, the first-floor layout was evaluated for improved flow, functionality, and accessibility between spaces. As a result, the kitchen and laundry were expanded by eliminating a closet at the garage entry, a built-in desk was converted to a dedicated coffee bar with pocket doors and floating shelves, and the size of the existing kitchen island more than doubled in length and now seats six. An awkwardly located wet bar in the family room was replaced with a closet that provides convenient storage along with symmetry as it and an existing closet both flank the double doorway between the family and living rooms. In the laundry, a generous length of bench storage with shiplap, coat hooks, and cubbies was introduced to serve the family’s on-the-go lifestyle. To further expand the laundry, a seldom-used exterior door was replaced with a window and base cabinet and now offers a beautiful view of the backyard. 

The light, bright new kitchen features sleek inset cabinetry, gorgeous quartz counters with coordinating full-height quartz backsplashes, and an eye-catching custom wood hood with spice ledge that transitions the quartz backsplash below to the textural accent wall tile above. Metal finishes include satin brass plumbing fixtures and cabinetry hardware along with a matte black custom metal leg that supports the island counter. For continuity, highly durable tile flooring in a wood plank aesthetic was installed throughout the first floor with the dining room featuring a herringbone tile inlay while the foyer and powder room both include large format faux marble floor tile. Contemporary abstract wallpaper in the powder room provides interest and perfectly complements the medium gray cabinetry and black trimmed wall sconces, hardware, and faucet. The entire first floor now offers exceptional, welcoming spaces for the family’s hosting and entertaining purposes!
