Blue Bell Primary Suite

Our Blue Bell clients came to us after discovering significant mold remediation was needed throughout their house but specifically in the primary suite. Their primary bedroom, sitting room, and wellness room each received fresh paint along with new carpeting and furniture. Focused attention was given to their primary bath as the previous steam shower had caused mold to build up around the room’s walls and ceiling. Addressing the mold provided the perfect opportunity to replace outdated fixtures and give the bath and adjacent rooms a fresh, contemporary new aesthetic. Through the design process, Harth’s team identified the client’s value of holistic wellness and sought ways to enhance health and wellbeing through a design and curated materials that create a sense of calm and tranquility. Within the bath, a large, outdated corner jetted tub was replaced with a freestanding tub, floor mount bath filler, and deep toiletry ledge; this freed up valuable floor space while also eliminating concern for future mold. As with many older homes, framing and mechanical planning presented challenges once the walls and ceilings were opened up. However, impact was minimized, while meeting the clients’ goals, by maintaining the bath’s original footprint and not encroaching into nearby rooms.

Among our clients’ desires was incorporating elements of nature. To accomplish this, a tall niche with a cascading flora pattern was introduced in the new steam shower as a focal point, complemented by white with grey vein Dekton tile, an incredibly durable and anti-microbial (non-porous) material that does not require sealing. All tiled areas of the bath, including shower ceiling, were carefully considered to withstand daily use. By installing large format slabs from floor to ceiling, grout lines were significantly reduced furthering the ability to easily clean and maintain the shower’s surfaces. The niche pattern, not overtly floral per the clients’ preferences, mimics views of the property’s mature trees seen just beyond through the wall of large windows. Eye-catching wall paneling consisting of horizontal bands of naturally stained white oak were installed behind the freestanding white tub furthering the tranquil, spa-like new feel of the room. The wood paneling and accent lighting are carried around the room including at the tub storage bench and floating vanity cabinet with its paneled soffit, flanking walls, and concealed medicine cabinets. Additional bath amenities include heated floors, remote controlled window shades, charging station at the tub storage bench, and custom vanity with drawers designed for specific storage needs. Another beautiful feature is the water closet pocket door with Shoji screen that allows light and ambiance while providing visual privacy. The refresh of flooring, paint, and window treatments in the primary bedroom, sitting room, and wellness room enabled a cohesive aesthetic and reinforces the calm and peaceful feel of the new bath throughout the suite.  This beautifully designed and executed renovation, with focused attention to detail throughout, offers functionality and enjoyment for many years to come.
