Chestnut Hill Kitchen, Nook and Laundry

Our Philadelphia client, a very social, active woman looking forward to her approaching retirement, was seeking a full remodel of her large kitchen and adjacent office and laundry room. A welcoming host and cook, she regularly entertains including meal preparation for family and friends. In addition to gathering and seating spaces for her guests, her goals included a large island, smoothie station, plenty of storage for pots and pans, and the repurposing of her office for sit down dining with a bar and beverage refrigerator. As her guests rarely enter via the front door and instead come through her side entry, incorporated in her scope was an upgrade aesthetic and functionality to her nearby laundry room.

Careful attention was given to each client request and a beautiful transformation took place. First, the dividing wall between the kitchen and office was removed for increased daylight and circulation. Striking black hexagon floor tile was added to delineate between the kitchen and new eating nook which is complete with built-in upholstered bench, table and chairs, and bar cabinetry. The large kitchen island with generous storage capacity provides ample workspace and seating during food preparation. An eye-catching combination of black and white cabinetry provides a contemporary new aesthetic throughout the renovation areas and is accented by the rich dark stained wood island, stainless steel appliances, and brushed honey gold hardware. The black hexagon floor tile was also installed in the laundry and is complemented by fun, modern wallpaper, white storage bench with upper shelf and coat hooks, black cabinetry, new stacked washer and dryer. Going forward, our client’s home is now equipped with the sophisticated kitchen and surrounding spaces she was seeking, ready for herself and many others to enjoy long into the future!
