Our Rydal client – a repeat client which we love – returned to Harth for a remodel of their daughter’s bathroom. The original goal was straightforward: remove and replace the existing plumbing fixtures with an aesthetic refresh of all interior finishes and materials. However, as regularly occurs during Harth’s design development phase, we listened carefully to our client’s goals and desires and presented various schematic options including one with minor reframing to optimize the space. Reframing enabled the minimization of a large, angled bulkhead that conceals the adjacent winder stair to their small attic loft.
The results are substantial! Our client now has a highly functional, standing-height shower where previously the bulkhead protruded uncomfortably across the entire shower wall creating an awkward relationship with the showerhead as well as limited accessibility to the tiled bench. The generously sized shower now includes a conveniently located showerhead and hand shower along with frameless shower glass and a partial-height wall between the shower and the vanity that maximizes natural light across the room. The shower niche is specifically located for convenient access to soaps and shampoos while also concealing them from immediate view. Instead, the main focus of the shower is on the pink bouquet tile featured on the face of the built-in shower bench along with the striking Norwegian Rose marble floor tile. Complimenting these features, a form of color drenching using shades of pink and pink patterns is carried throughout the bath including on the vanity cabinet, shower wall tile, wall paint, mirror trim, and light fixture. Champagne bronze finishes on the plumbing fixtures, bath accessories, and hardware further provide the perfect accents to this very chic and sophisticated new bath!
