Wyndmoor Custom Home

Harth’s expertise in custom home building can turn your thoughts and ideas into the forever home of your dreams! This is what happened for our Wyndmoor clients, relatively new empty nesters, seeking to downsize from their previous home of 20 years, yet excitedly looking forward to hosting both their adult children as well as their future grandchildren. Harth guided them through the design development process first by gathering as much detail as possible about their wants and needs. Among their top questions was how quickly could their home be ready and they move in? They had just purchased the land, with an existing home on it, in a highly desirable neighborhood. Deciding on remodeling the existing home, which needed extensive renovation and remediation, versus demolition of the home and a fresh build, was a pivotal consideration. Harth’s well-honed proficiencies in design, estimating, and feasibility, in both whole house remodeling and custom home building, were essential in helping our clients arrive at their decision. This quickly set in motion the full demolition of the existing structure and intentional repositioning of utility connections to the new home, including transitioning electrical service from above to below ground.

To address our client’s desired timeframe and begin the new custom home build quickly, Harth accelerated the design and construction process by introducing one of our original floor plans and intentionally modifying the layout and features to incorporate their preferences. Our clients were extremely clear in what they wanted which was essential to an unprecedented ten month process to both design and build the new home given permit requirements, demolition, and custom features including a temperature-controlled wine room, grand staircase incorporating stained wood and metal, arched-top bookcase displays with integrated LED lighting, and the gathering room’s Fine Paints of Europe Mirror Glaze ceiling.

The result is an exquisite 5,800 square foot five bedroom, five and a half bath home with an expansive, main level open floor plan and unique spaces throughout the home including an office, 4-Season room, mudroom, and study that can each be closed off for a more intimate feel. Our clients’ favorite aesthetics are featured throughout including their love of curves, warm and saturated colors, mixed metal finishes, and lots of texture using natural stone, wood grains, fluted tile, and wallpaper in key locations.

The gorgeous chef’s kitchen features an impressive island, over twelve feet by five feet, hand-selected quartzite counters, custom cabinetry with a coordinating oversized hood with brushed gold metal banding, fluted backsplash tiles at the Wolf dual fuel, eight-burner range with pot filler, and integrated wet bar in deep olive green with natural stain reeded backsplash, integrated lighting glass display cabinets, and undermount copper sink. Strategically located as a focal point adjacent to the kitchen, dining, and gathering room is the wine room with VintageView contemporary vertical storage for 350 bottles of wine accented by split face marble wall tile and backlit LED wall wash lighting. Three sets of elegant round top French doors join the gathering room with the 3-Season room and maximize natural light throughout the main level. Backlit built-in custom shelving in the office is set off by the color-drenched olive green paint carried over from the wet bar cabinetry. The large lower level includes a rec room, ideal for watching movies and sports events, home gym, and guest bedroom planned for future grandchildren to have built-in bunk beds.

The spacious primary suite features a generously sized bedroom, walk-in closet, and primary bath with freestanding tub, side-by-side showers, tiled bench and shaving ledge, his-and-her wall-mounted vanities with undercabinet LED lighting, and underfloor radiant heat. Dreaming and envisioning the new home was definitely a family affair with our clients involving their adult children throughout the process. The three upstairs bedrooms, each with an ensuite bath, incorporate style preferences of their three children, including wall and floor tiles, niche designs, plumbing fixtures, and accent lighting. Even the family’s beloved dog was considered as the mudroom amenities feature a tiled dog shower and low cabinetry drawer customized for feeding bowls.

The home’s earthtone exterior is the perfect complement to the interior with its eye-catching natural stone, medium brown stained wood corbels, columns, and custom garage door, James Hardie shingle and lap siding, centrally featured turret with two-stories of glass windows, and combination shingle and standing seam roof. Best of all, the newly constructed home fits right in with the beautiful diversity and detailing of the neighboring homes, one of our clients’ top priorities. Harth’s team and comprehensive two-year warranty will follow them as they continue to settle into their forever home. From initial conversations through design and production, Harth is thrilled to have brought our clients’ dreams to life!
